about

Hey! My name is Nora, and I'm a 3rd year undergraduate pursuing my bachelor's in computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder. I've always been interested in the potential of technology to improve quality of life. My current interests lie in the fundamentals of computing, particularly in algorithms and computational complexity. I have a vast, multidisciplinary background, including a data engineering internship at Apple, optical engineering research at Stanford, and human-computer interaction and deep learning research at CU Boulder.

Having grown up in Silicon Valley, I have always been surrounded by big tech and opportunities to learn about coding and engineering. My experience with computer science began with building Scratch programs and completing Hour of Code exercises in my free time as an elementary school student. I was also fortunate enough to have attended coding classes both in school and in summer camp throughout my youth. After beginning my program at CU Boulder, I have become even more excited by the potential to use computing to benefit society.

I am graduating in May 2026, a year early. In the near future, I will be returning to Apple as a summer intern and will begin my master’s in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. I hope to gain the research experience and fundamental computing expertise needed to determine whether to pursue a PhD in algorithms, or to enter industry in a role where I can help improve the efficiency and reliability of real-world systems. In this portfolio, you will find a compilation of the skills and experiences I have accumulated throughout my undergraduate experience, embedded in a site that embodies my interest in creativity and design.

selected experiences

vice president

Run Club · CU Boulder

Aug 2025 – May 2026

As vice president, I coordinate and lead group runs on campus. I participated all three years, and helped unite students on campus across various disciplines to create a supportive community.

data products engineering intern

Apple · Austin, TX

May 2025 – Aug 2025

I worked as a data engineer intern at Apple, creating more efficient data products for experimentation on app store advertising fields. I will be returning for a Summer 2026 internship in New York City.

visiting research intern

Fan Lab · Stanford University Dept. of Computer Science

Jun 2024 – Aug 2026

I worked in the Fan Lab under Professor Jonathan Fan as a research intern at Stanford University during the summer of 2024. I used Ansys FDTD and PyTorch to collect data and create a model to predict phase differences across 3d metasurfaces, varying materials and dimensions.

course assistant & learning assistant

CSCI 1300 · CU Boulder Dept. of Computer Science

Aug 2024 – Apr 2026

I worked on the course team for CSCI 1300 (Intro to Computing) for four semesters. I help lead recitations, hold office hours, attend staff meetings to develop the curriculum, and answer questions online. I began as a Learning Assistant in Fall 2024, and transitioned to Course Assistant in Fall 2025 with similar duties.

vice president & corresponding secretary

Tau Beta Pi · Colorado Beta

May 2024 – May 2026

I joined the TBP, the engineering honor society, as a freshman due to being in the top 1/8th of juniors by GPA and credit hours. I was corresponding secretary in my second year and vice president in my third year, overseeing community service and professional development activities. I represented our chapter at the District 12 Conference in spring 2025 and the National Convention in fall 2025.

undergraduate research assistant

CAIRo Lab · CU Boulder Dept. of Computer Science

Jan 2024 – May 2026

I conducted undergraduate research in the CAIRo (Collaborative AI and Robotics Lab) Lab under professor Bradley Hayes. I gathered satellite data and trained a model to predict bounding volumes around buildings to contribute to a 3D reconstruction project. Previously, I helped facilitate user studies and analyze data to understand human reception of generative AI output.
